Hey, I'm Kea
I am down to earth & laid back with a love for adventure, adrenaline & the outdoors. I was born and raised on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in the small community of Ucluelet, BC, which is where I fell in love with nature and the outdoors. After 15 years on the mainland chasing the snow & my passion for snowboarding I now live at Sproat Lake just outside of Port Alberni, roughly 85 km East of my favorite photo locations in the Pacific Rim National Park.
A few of my favorite things:
- Snowboarding - the mountains -hiking -camping -mountain biking- traveling/road trips -35mm film photography- skateboarding - laying low or adventuring with my dog, Doch -exploring coastlines - the ocean - attempting to surf (looks alot like drowning).
& A few other things about me :
- I started my photography journey capturing action sports ( snowboarding) and never in a million years thought I would do wedding photography. But here I am and I have never been so sure about anything in my life, for a not super affectionate or sappy gal I love capturing your love stories.
- I prefer beer over wine
- I love cookies & cream ice cream more than a child does.
- I collect old 35mm film cameras & recently started processing my own film at home ( I will also shoot at least 1 roll of film at your wedding or photo session)
My approach
I bring my laid back personality into my approach to photography, I strive to capture the raw & real moments by using a series of prompts to capture authentic emotions, expressions & your true connection. I would describe my style as true to color, carefree and fun, a little moody with some good old fashioned grain. I fell in love with photography back in the 35mm film days and still today shoot film and love to carry that aspect into the digital world, giving my images a timeless feel.
