October Horne Lake Elopement.
This is a little embarrassing to admit, but this was my first time to Horne Lake, EVER! Having essentially grown up at Sproat Lake, I never adventured far for other lakes, I was always pretty spoiled with having one in my front yard. One thing I love about being a wedding & elopement photographer on Vancouver Island is all the exploring that I get to do of nearby areas I probably should have already explored years before.
For those who don't know, Horne Lake is located just west of Qualicum Beach, and has a beautiful large park and campground nestled at the bottom of Mount Mark (Also an incredible hike with stunning views, but I will save that for another blog post). The cliff face of Mount Mark reminds me a lot of The Chief in Squamish, except possibly better views at the top! Of course on this elopement day we were socked in with fog and you would have no clue there was a mountain there from my photos.
I was all smiles driving to this styled elopement photography shoot. The skies were dark and moody, which if you haven't noticed yet, is my jam. I would have been all smiles with sun too because who doesn't like being warm, but the moody skies on this day just added so much to the photos.
This elopement was perfect, something similar to which I would do for my own wedding day, if that day ever happens. Super simple carefree & down to earth. We set up a little decorative rug for the to exchange vows in front of the lake, R was wearing a stunning gown for She Wore Flowers Bridal Wear. Fleur De Lii knocked it out of the park per usual with her bouquet, and Orka Jems tied the look together with their stunning jewelry.
